VolkerBrooks Aid Marina Redevelopment
VolkerBrooks has just completed the removal of a significant marine plant set-up, which was used to demolish eight mooring dolphins at the Port of Fleetwood on the Lancashire coast.
Client, Demolition Services of Leeds, used eight Linkflote pontoons with all necessary spud legs, winches, decking and handrail to float a 20 tonne long reach excavator and other associated demolition equipment within the inner harbour at the port.
As well as the provision and assembly of the pontoon equipment VolkerBrooks also provided a motorflote propulsion unit to move the set-up around the dock and a 5m workboat.
The whole plant set-up was very effectively matched and the Associated British Ports scheme, which will make way for the extension of the marina facilities, took less than four weeks to complete, some six weeks ahead of schedule.
